As part of the Eboracum Roman Festival, Roman re-enactors will be taking part in military parades, siege weapon demonstrations, and a Living History Camp in the York Museum Gardens on Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 June 2017.

The first Eboracum Roman Festival took place in 2016 and saw more than 28,000 people attend. This year’s festival takes place across four days with an even busier programme of displays, exhibits, events and activities suitable for all ages.

The Yorkshire Museum is home to some of Britain’s most treasured Roman artefacts, which will be on display over the course of the festival including the newly conserved Wold Newton Hoard. Following a successful appeal launched on 25 July 2016, the Yorkshire Museum raised over £44,000 to keep the hoard in the region where it was found and in a public collection.

The museum will also be running various activities and talks over the course of the weekend, with additional events taking place at venues across the city.

Full listings of all of the events and activities can be found on the Eboracum Roman Festival webpage here.
